Abbott Indicators Project - Camden

The Abbott rulings contain an unprecedented remedy to improve public education in New Jersey's high-poverty urban communities. Extraordinary in scope, the remedy includes standards-based education, adequate foundation funding, universal preschool, and school construction.

The Education Law Center's Abbott Indicators Project tracks local progress in program implementation and student achievement.  The indicators will then serve as a tool to inform stakeholders so that they can celebrate accomplishments and advocate and plan for needed improvements.  Camden is one of four pilot districts in the project, along with Newark, Trenton, and Union City.  CAMConnect is a local partner to Education Law Center on this effort.

The Camden Abbott Indicators Report was released in May 2005.

Updated data from this report is now available at the Education Law Center's project website.
