Discussion topics include:

Camden City Kids Count

CAMConnect is partnering with the Association for Children of New Jersey (ACNJ), the Camden Empowerment Zone Corporation (CEZC), and the Camden City Youth Services Commission (CCYSC) to develop a Kids Count report for Camden City. This report will feature data on children, youth, and families, similar to the existing Kids Count series that has focused on national and state-level data. The Camden City report will be released sometime this summer, and this presentation will review the data that has been collected thus far and its implications.

Abbott Indicators Project (Report to be released May 26, 2005)

The Education Law Center is working with CAMConnect on this project, which is intended to provide a more complete picture of education data and practices within New Jersey’s Abbott districts. Camden is one of four pilot districts to be included in this initial assessment. A critical component of this project is citizen engagement around the data that is collected and a better understanding of the implications of the Abbott decisions. At the member / stakeholder meeting, initial data findings will be presented, and the attendees will be tasked with assisting in the identification of citizen engagement strategies.

CAMConnect Website Orientation

CAMConnect has recently upgraded its website (www.camconnect.org), in partnership with Hopeworks ‘N Camden. CAMConnect staff will review features of the website, which include posting of public documents and neighborhood-level data.
